Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme (GCDS) tests may only be arranged by a Kennel Club approved organisation.
This is a national Scheme for all dogs (pedigree or crossbreed) and their owners and is designed to train dogs and their handlers how to become "Good Citizens". There is no age limit on either dog or owner but generally dogs must have completed their vaccination programme to take part.
The initial Bronze training course is easier than you think and upon successful completion dogs (and owners) will receive a Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Certificate and rosette.
The Scheme aims to make the owner fully aware of their dog owning responsibilities and the need to own a socially acceptable dog.
There are also two additional levels of Good Citizenship, Silver and Gold which can be attempted once Bronze has been achieved.
At no time will we at Wagging Tails put our owners under any undue pressure to compete in the Scheme, it is purely voluntary and if an owner feels his/her dog is not suitable then just don't enter. What you will get from attending the class is a well rounded, well socialised dog.
